اهداف البرنامج
- Providing students with thorough and solid knowledge of knowledge-base linguistic courses including phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, etc.
- Providing students with thorough and solid knowledge of knowledge-base literature courses including literary theory and criticism, poetry, drama, novel, etc. in different historical periods.
- Providing students with thorough and solid knowledge of knowledge-base translation courses including translation theories, translation: theory and practice, legal, literary, journalistic translation.
- Providing students with excellent practice-base translation courses including on sight, consecutive, simultaneous interpreting.
- Providing students with skill-base courses including Spoken, Writing, Grammar, Writing, composition.
- Equipping students with solid knowledge of scientific research methodology.
- Conducting scientific research and studies in English linguistics, literature and translation.
- Equipping students with the current English language teaching methods.

The program aims to prepare qualified graduates with solid knowledge and practical skills in English linguistics, literature, and translation, equipped with scientific research competencies and capabilities.

A Knowledge and understanding
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program of BA in English and Translation, the graduate will be able to:
A1. Explain types of linguistic (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse) theories.
A2. Discuss literary (poetry, drama, novel) theories, movements, criticism.
A3. Explain different translation theories, types, translation: theory and practice.
A4. Define concepts, notions and practices of scientific research methodology.
B. Cognitive/ Intellectual Skills
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program of BA in English and Translation, the graduate will be able to:
B1. Analyze various linguistic (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse) problems.
B2. Critically assess literary (poetry, drama, novel) theories, ideas, and movements.
B3. Compare translation theories, types, translation: theory and practice.
B4. Evaluate different concepts, notions and practices of scientific research methodology.
C. Practical and Professional Skills
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program of BA in English and Translation, the graduate will be able to:
C1. Apply the knowledge acquired in linguistics, literature and translation studies to Arabic spheres.
C2. Formulate hypotheses, proposals enhancing scientific research in skill-base courses.
C3. Address critical issues in linguistics, literature and translation studies.
C4. Solve problems encountered by Yemeni Learners of English in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing skills.
D. General and Transferable Skills
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate program of BA in English and Translation, the graduate will be able to:
D1. Form a team/group to do graduation projects.
D2. Collaborate in scientific research projects in local, regional and international centers and intuitions.
D3. Produce scientific research and studies on problems encountered by Yemeni Learners of English in linguistics, literature and translation.
D4. Coordinate and/or organize local and international workshops and conferences on English knowledge-base and skill-base subject matter.
